One of the first ways you should consider is linking with other sites. It is a great way to get traffic and what you really need to do is to contact similar sites to your own and approcah them to exchnage links. Most do not like to link with new sites without a pagerank, but since linking will essentially benefit both parties concerned, most people will agree to link to you. On the otherhand, it is extremely consuming and slow and although there are automated ways you are strongly advised against it.

Articles

Articles is a great way to link. So you are able to write good content you can offer these for free and thus get a link back to your site and more traffic.

Directory Submission

Directory Submission is a good way to link, but once again it is extremely time consuming even with automated and semi automated systems. Personally I don't like the automated systems very much because it is filled with directories with no page rank at all and therefore offers very little value.

SEO

The SEO strategy has always been free unless you choose an expert to do it for you. Beware howver that experts sometimes cheat and could jeopardise your presence altogher. The key is to fill your site with good quality content and to furnish it with relevant keywords. Posting blogs and adding links help.


Forums

Forum posting and networking is a great way to add link backs and you should therefore not forget to this either.

The Truth

Although it is partially true that you can get free traffic really the amount of energy you invest outweighs the costs you try to avoid. So my advice is still to try other programs too.
